Seatoun House I
Wellington
Wellington
On an exposed corner site close to Wellington’s Seatoun beach, this dark-stained, timber-clad home designed for a young family is made up of three simple box forms linked by a double-height glazed metal box. The living spaces and bedrooms are contained in a timber box, while services, garage and a den are housed in a closed concrete mass, dug into the ground to form an adjacent courtyard.
“Three simple box forms make up this family home……finished in three carefully considered materials, timber, zinc and concrete," NZIA Awards Jury, 2002.
Awards: NZIA New Zealand Award; 2004. NZIA Local Award, 2002.
