Residential Process

Renovations will soon begin for this much-loved, rural family home, originally designed in 1968 by architect Barrie Morris.

Seen as unusual for its time amidst its neighbours – traditional Waikato farmhouses – the home has been passed down to a new generation and needs a refresh and modernisation. The property features an established garden, also originally designed by Morris, which is an important feature of the home and how it interacts with the landscape.

The brief for HMOA is to open out and modernise the home while retaining the essence of Morris's design. Windows heights will be raised and some walls in the kitchen/living/dining areas removed to give a greater sense of space and light. There'll be a new kitchen and all windows will be double-glazed.
