Church Bay House

Spectacular views across Lyttelton Harbour are in direct contrast to the ‘ordinariness’ of this home’s residential subdivision. With a modest budget, our design was strongly influenced by the need for privacy, resulting in a strong yet sympathetic shield to the street. A long, elevated timber box contains the main living spaces and hovers above the bedrooms. A separate garage provides important protection from the prevailing Easterly winds for a private courtyard, making the most of sun and views.
