Media article: Peka Peka House in Home Magazine
31/1/2018
We are delighted to see Peka Peka House II featured in the Summer 2017/18 issue of Home New Zealand a magazine.
This cedar holiday house, which will one day become the owners' main residence, is nestled into native bush on the Kapiti Coast near Wellington. It won an NZ Institute of Architects Award in 2016.
Described by HMOA Director John Melhuish as a'twisted back box', read the Q&A with John from the Home article here.
Clad in two contrasting cedar weatherboard profiles, the home opens out onto a sheltered internal courtyard protected from the prevailing coastal winds. The main house sits on one side of the glade while a separate sleep-out provides protection and privacy from the neighbouring site.
