Refurbishment of and additions to this significant Wellington waterfront commercial building with the brief to rationalise the previously fragmented entrances. The new exterior entry is designed as a distinct portal that is separated physically from the existing building by a slender band of frameless glass.

The dark metal cladding and stained timbers of the new entry ‘box’ are in contrast to the white aluminium and glass facade of the existing building. The position, scale and selection of materials all contribute to more formally defining the entry to the building.
