Construction Begins on New Apartments in Manukau, Auckland
13 September 2017Back to news
A new apartment building designed by our HMOA Auckland studio is to begin construction next week.
The materiality and form of the apartment has taken its cue both from the natural and built environments. Our design references the volcanic rock that the building will be founded on, as well as the surrounding urban context, most of which was built during the era of tram travel. The completed apartment will be a concrete and steel structure that features copper and cedar cladding and a custom copper gutter.
Comprised of seven levels, the building will have car parking in the basement, commercial space on the ground floor and apartments above, with a central courtyard to provide the apartment bedrooms with daylight. There will be four levels of residential apartments with eight 1-3 bedroom apartments per floor, topped with a penthouse level containing five penthouse apartments.
